The Work

Across the street from our hotel, a line had formed along the sidewalk for buns being made by hand and passed directly to customers. The workspace extended out toward the street, with several people working side by side at their stations. After walking past, I came back with my camera and wandered between the neighboring shops looking for a photograph. This was the frame I found: one worker absorbed in the repetition and concentration of making something by hand.
