Galway Boats

Galway, Ireland

Soon after arriving in Galway, I checked into the hotel, grabbed my camera, and started walking with no real plan beyond seeing what was around me. I came across these boats pulled onto the shore and made several photographs before settling on this frame.

I still find myself wondering about them. Who used them? Were they fishing boats, transport, workboats helping larger vessels, or something else entirely? The photograph stayed with me because the boats feel full of a history I can see but not fully know.
